Anatomy of this entry

Premise, evidence, learning, lesson. The chain the note is built on.

The value of proximity is intelligence you cannot buy at retail: seeing the decision, not just the result. Cropper treats every private tour as a data-gathering expedition into how excellence is actually manufactured.

What the experience taught

  • Ask to see the stage before the stage: the mock-up room, the paint booth, the tank test.
  • The person who signs off on a compromise teaches you more than the person who sells the result.
  • Record what is being argued about, disagreement marks where the category is still moving.
